If ever there were ever a truer statement! I always tell people that I am an introvert. I remember watching this Ted Talk and being gobsmacked with the revelation that I was was an INTROVERT! For years I never knew where I fit in, as I wasn’t shy, I could speak freely about my feelings, and I could stand up for what I believed in. I had a big mouth and I could express myself but I felt like I wanted to crawl into my shell when faced with a group of people in a social situation. Now I have no reservations about getting up in front of a huge crowd and speaking but put me at a cocktail party where I don’t know anyone and you will find me in the kitchen asking what I can do to help out.
So for me, hearing this talk opened up my world. I remember calling my best friend of 40 yrs and telling her … “Guess what, I have had an epiphany, I am an introvert!” Her response … “Duh!” She knew what I didn’t. I have always needed to go inside myself to re- energize – still do. I recharge by looking inside. So for me, this statement hits home in a big way.Share:
